Oil & Gas networking giant OilPro.com has announced it is closing down. OilPro.com was established in 2013 by David Kent which was the original founder of RigZone.com which he sold for $50 million in 2010.
In 2016 Kent was arrested, charged, and then pled guilty for stealing data from RigZone.com. The authorities had charged Kent of stealing information from more than 700,000 Rigzone’s customer accounts.
Below is the email announcement sent out by OilPro.com to it’s members….
Dear Oilpros,
It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of Oilpro.com. Many years ago, we set out to create a vibrant online community of oil and gas professionals. To that end, we were successful – you were successful. We thank you for participating and we hope that Oilpro has made a positive contribution to your career.
The bulk of Oilpro’s functionality is still available to allow members to download any of their content they would like to save. We will bring the entire website offline at the end of business, August 2. In the meantime, you may access your contributions on your profile. Thank you again for your support and we wish you the best of luck in the future.
Sincerely,
Oilpro Support
