Not all oil wells are created equal.

Some are blessed with better geology, while others have better teams of engineers, drilling rig operators and hydraulic fracturing crews using the latest technology and techniques to boost their productivity.

Out of the estimated 8,000 oil and natural gas wells that have been completed and brought into production in Texas so far this year, 10 stand apart from the pack.

In figures provided exclusively to the Houston Chronicle, the Austin oil field data firm Enverus ranked the 10 most productive wells in terms of barrels of oil equivalent, an industry standard that combines crude oil and natural gas production. The industry uses barrels of oil equivalent produced during the first six months of a well’s life to compare it to others.
