Amazon Employees Against Oil & Gas Industry

Thousands of Amazon employees are pushing back against the company’s courtship of the oil and gas industry, and calling for the Seattle tech giant to assume ambitious plans to combat climate change.

More than 4,000 Amazon employees signed an open letter to Jeff Bezos and Amazon’s board Wednesday demanding the company adopt a shareholder resolution asking for a plan to address climate change and curtail the company’s reliance on fossil fuels.

Among the letter’s demands, employees called for Amazon’s cloud computing platform, Amazon Web Services, to stop working with oil and gas companies on solutions for discovering and extracting more fossil fuels. [read more]
